I like 'em all, but #1 definitely gets my vote, visually & structurally. It minimises that area of nearly flat sawn wood & gets it up into the upper bout where it's less likely to give problems down the road. Flat grain is not my favourite... kinda reminds me of plywood.
Just another 2 cents worth.
Beautiful set!!! I think you should use Mahogany & sell that stuff to me.

It's hot! But is it for sale? I like that set of wood.

Hi Colin,
I like #1 but 4 looks good too.
Better yet, push 4 up to the head a bit and use the arrow piece as a continuation on the heal end.

I think #4 it is, although #3 still is calling me!

No Bruce it's not for sale! But I have got another better set that is reserved for a special project that I got from the same source, wait till you see that one!

Shall I tell them the price Russell?

I change my vote to: Madagascar 4 me! Shucks, I was hoping you'd sell me the prettiest wood I've seen all day.

Go for it Colin, No secret on the Price and Mattia I know is already using the same supplier.

I Like 2 a lot because it has a lot of variantion and looks like Madrose should.

Lets face it it will look nice which ever way you go.

Cast a vote here for #2. It looks like it complements the side set more so than the other patterns, although they're all real good-looking. I'm real partial to Mad. Rwd. Nice wood! My two cents.....

I'm orderin' me up a few sets of that. Oh yes. I've got two, want a few more, and for a change it comes without very high shipping. Madinter's the supplier, might get a touch stiff for US-folks with the weaker dollar and transatlantic shipping, but still, equivalent of about 155 dollars per set's none too shabby.

Colin, Bruce's suggestion and your rendition (the now numbered #4) is just perfect. To my eye, you've got the motion of the grain following the shape of the guitar, not fighting it, plus you get that interesting little spike there which says "I'm rosewood, not walnut".
Oooooweeee, that's nice.

Since you won't sell it to Bruce, would you sell it to me?

Steve

Colin don't know if you've decided, but I would also agree that $4 has the right amount of "edge" to it, but not totally outragious.

Of course, you may want to consult the customer if it's a commision (I sure you've done this)

But like many here, #4 is my vote. Looks great, can't wait to see more.

Rod
